Ed Sheeran has launched a new series of original works titled ‘Cosmic Carpark Paintings’, raising funds for his Ed Sheeran Foundation.

The canvas and unique prints will be available exclusively on HENI from tomorrow (Thursday July 10), offering the public a first opportunity to collect original artworks and edition prints by the singer-songwriter.

It’ll benefit the Ed Sheeran Foundation – a UK-wide initiative aimed at providing inclusive, high-quality music education for every child.

Sheeran’s painting journey began in 2019 after his record-breaking ‘Divide’ tour ended. Using his spare time to create original artworks, in 2020, he used one of his early creations as the official artwork for his single ‘Afterglow’.

Inspired by celestial patterns, and in keeping with his well-documented, expressionist splash painting style, Sheeran painted his debut collection in a disused car park in London last year in between the international leg of his ‘Mathematics Tour’.

He initially created the works for his family and friends, using the process as a creative outlet in between releasing new music.

After catching up with his close friend Damien Hirst, however, the artist encouraged the musician to put on his own exhibition. Sheeran decided to use this as an opportunity to raise money for his foundation. Both Sheeran and Hirst agreed that the project would be a fun and interesting way of showing how art itself can give back to the arts.

“I started painting at the end of my Divide Tour in 2019 and it’s something that I’ve used as a creative outlet ever since. When I was growing up, both of my parents worked in art, so I’ve naturally always been interested in it, and I always enjoyed studying art at school,” Sheeran explained.

“I was back and forth on tour last year, and I used a lot of my downtime in the UK to paint. I’d run to a disused carpark in Soho each morning, paint, then run home and I’d do that daily until I headed back out on tour again.”

He continued: “I told my good friends Damien Hirst and Joe Hage about the paintings, and they encouraged me to put on my own thing, so I decided I’d use it as a way of raising funds for my Ed Sheeran Foundation, which supports music education in the UK and helps fund grassroot music projects, schools and equipment, so all kids have access to music.

“I want to thank Damien and Joe for everything they’ve done for me on this exhibition and I’m delighted to be putting it on. x.”

The paintings and related prints will be exhibited at the HENI Gallery in London for the duration of the drop, between July 11 and August 1 2025. Admission to the ‘Cosmic Carpark Paintings’ exhibition is free. Opening hours are 10am– 6pm, Monday to Sunday.

Sheeran launched the Ed Sheeran Foundation at the start of this year. He kicked off the initiative by visiting schools in Cardiff, Coventry, Edinburgh and Belfast. The foundation has already supported 18 grassroots music education organisations and state school music departments, impacting over 12,000 children and young people.

In March, Sheeran wrote an open letter to the UK government calling for immediate and long-term funding for music education. It was backed by the likes of Harry Styles, Charli XCX, Ezra Collective and Myles Smith.

Meanwhile, Sheeran has released three singles from his forthcoming album ‘Play’ (out September 12). These are ‘Sapphire’, ‘Azizam’ and ‘Old Phone’. He has also shared the track ‘Drive’, featuring Dave Grohl on drums and John Mayer on guitar, from the F1 soundtrack.

In other news, Sheeran recently made a surprise appearance at Olivia Rodrigo’s BST Hyde Park concert in London.

The HYBE x Geffen group took to social media yesterday (July 8) to announce the ‘Beautiful Chaos’ tour, happening later this year. The tour currently only includes date in North America, and global dates are expected to be announced at a later time.

The ‘Beautiful Chaos’ tour  will launch in November and will continue through December, with stops in Toronto, New York, Boston, Washington, Texas, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Mexico City among others.

The group spoke to NME about their new EP ‘Beautiful Chaos’. Speaking on where they see themselves going next, Lara said: “Oh my god, I see a lot of evolution. I feel like soon we’re going to tap into more different genres, maybe like R&B, maybe even more dance-heavy. We’re gonna try a lot of different things. We’re all very inspired by Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and 2000s pop, so we’d love to experiment with that.”

Dani added: “I feel like it’s all [about] keeping the KATSEYE vibe within exploring different genres, which is really exciting, and then also bringing in the cultural elements, different languages maybe, instruments and choreography. We are really, really musical as people so I think we’re very open to trying anything. So we will be doing that!”

KATSEYE made their debut last August with ‘SIS (Soft Is Strong)’, which featured the singles ‘Debut’ and ‘Touch’. In a four-star review of the record, NME’s Mika Chen called the EP a “surprisingly cohesive release that largely captures the group’s enormous potential” but criticised the short length of its tracks.

KATSEYE were also selected as one of the emerging essential artists to watch in 2025 for the NME 100. NME also named ‘Touch’ as one of the 50 best songs of 2024: “It’s one thing to make an earworm, and another to transform a pop song into something akin to muscle memory. That’s what K-pop does best [and] KATSEYE proved that they’re scholars of K-pop’s most important lessons.”

Comprising members Sophia, Manon, Daniella, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae, KATSEYE formed in November 2023 through HYBE x Geffen Records’ reality show Dream Academy. They were the final six among the 20 contestants who competed in the series.

Former Pearl Jam sticksman Dave Abbruzzese has opened up on the chances of him returning to the band.

Earlier this week (July 7), longtime Pearl Jam and Soundgarden drummer Matt Cameron announced his exit from the Eddie Vedder-led band after 27 years behind the kit. Since then, fans have been speculating on who would replace him on the drum throne, with some even asking for the return of Abbruzzese.

Abbruzzese was with the band at the height of their game between 1991 and 1995, and appeared on albums like ‘Vs.’ and ‘Vitalogy’ and for some fans, was the band’s definitive drummer.

Dave Abbruzzese took to Facebook yesterday (July 8) to address if he would ever return: “I thought I would take the opportunity to share some recent and past works with all of you that have bombarded my Facebook & Instagram pages with literally 1000’s of posts, messages and emails, hoping I would call Pearl Jam and attempt to reconcile with them. To be clear, I have nothing to reconcile with them about.”

He continued, giving fans context on why he left the band in the first place: “My firing from the band and the subsequent trials and tribulations caused by the actions of the band’s management and the band’s old label that made things challenging for me weren’t completely my doing. With the exceptions of some petty comments and actions that I never quite understood or expected, I have never placed blame and harbored resentments towards the members of the band.”

“I have been blessed to have participated in some remarkable musical projects with remarkable people over the last 30 post Pearl Jam years. Although I never truly understood what was so important to destroy the musical chemistry we had back then, it is what it is, and I can’t do anything about it. At least nothing that I can figure out. The years since 1995 have served me well towards growing as a person and a player.”

On where things stand now, he shared: “It seems the guys in the band matured and grew up as much as I did, but the fact that I haven’t had any personal contact with any of them leads me to believe the water under the bridge runs too deep and too icy for there to be any reconnection or reconciliation. This is a shame and saddens me, greatly. I know I could and would have much to contribute if indeed the call came, but sadly, I don’t see that happening.”

Abbruzzese then shared a long list of his post-Pearl Jam projects that fans can tap into if they wish to seek out his drumming, before adding: “I wish Pearl Jam and its organization continued success and I do hope that there will come a day that we can again connect on some level. All that being said, I do ask that you please stop sending me messages asking & telling me to contact their management. I appreciate and understand your desire to see what could come out of that reunion musically. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t curious, also.”

Following Cameron’s exit, several other names have popped up in speculation for his replacement. These include original drummer Dave Krusen, Josh Klinghoffer and the band’s longtime pal Richard Stuverud – all of whom have filled in for Cameron during his absence in 2022 due to contracting COVID-19.

Other names including Josh Freese and Zak Starkey, both of whom were recently booted off major jobs with the Foo Fighters and The Who, have also been thrown around for possible replacements.

Back in 2023, Cameron was rumoured to be joining Foo Fighters. The Sun reported that he and Atom Willard – who went on to join Alkaline Trio later that year – were in line to take over from the late Taylor Hawkins, who died in 2022. He denied the rumours at the time, writing on his Instagram Stories, “FYI the internet rumours are false, I haven’t joined the Foos.”

Cameron previously played with Foo Fighters during the Hawkins tribute show in Los Angeles, and his departure from Pearl Jam has led to further speculation that he’ll be joining on a more permanent basis. This time, ahead of the Foos’ concerts later this year.

Black Sabbath‘s and Ozzy Osbourne‘s ‘Back To The Beginning’ finale has raked in a massive amount of money for charity – find out more below.

When the band first announced the larger-than-life farewell gig, they revealed that all proceeds from the show would be donated to charity – being split equally among Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acom Children’s Hospice.

Now, the show’s music director and Rage Against The Machine legend Tom Morello has revealed just how much money was raised for these charities through tickets to the once-in-a-lifetime event, and pay-per-view livestreams.

He wrote on Instagram on Tuesday (July 8) that “more than $190million will be donated to houses and hospitals for children.” Morello continued in his caption: “We raised a ton of money for a great cause and so many great musicians & bands & fans all over the world paid tribute to the ALL TIME greats.”

Elsewhere during the show, Ozzy Osbourne a final solo performance that saw him rise up from beneath the stage on a giant winged throne and launched into ‘I Don’t Know’ and ‘Mr. Crowley’. He rounded out his set with 1991’s ‘Mama, I’m Coming Home’ and ‘Crazy Train’, the song played before kick-off at every Aston Villa game at Villa Park.

Sabbath were welcomed to the stage shortly after 10pm, with air raid sirens and red strobe lights signalling their arrival. Within moments, the opening strains of ‘War Pigs’ filled Villa Park. Sabbath played a streamlined four-song set comprised of songs from their first two albums, including ‘Iron Man’ and ‘N.I.B.’, with the huge crowd throwing up devil horns and shouting every word.

As Black Sabbath introduced ‘Paranoid’ to bring the show to an end, Osbourne told the crowd: “It’s the last song ever. Your support has enabled us to live an amazing lifestyle, thank you from the bottom of our hearts”.

Those performing alongside Sabbath included Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Alice In Chains, Gojira, Anthrax, Guns N’ Roses, KoRn, Tool, Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, and many more.

Other standout moments of Saturday’s show included Tool’s Danny Carey, Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith taking part in a drum-off while covering Sabbath’s ‘Symptom Of The Universe’. They were also joined by Tom Morello, bassist Rudy Sarzo (Quiet Riot, Ozzy Osbourne’s solo material), and Extreme guitarist Nuno Bettencourt.

As well as that, Morello, Steven Tyler, Travis Barker and The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood came together to cover Led Zeppelin, and Yungblud led another supergroup in a version of ‘Changes’, which they dedicated to the late footballer Diogo Jota. ‘Altar’ has been previewed with the combustible lead single ‘Roobosh’, which frontwoman Julie Dawson has said is about “being fed up”, adding: “I wanted to write one song for the album that allowed me to shout, to get out all my frustration.”

“Women get angry and we are expected to contain our rage but on this song I just allowed myself to go there. I wanted a song where I could moan and scream cause we all need to do that every once in a while and honestly it was just a bit of fun, letting myself get angry when I never allow myself to.”

‘Altar’ was written over the last two years and sees the band tackling their yearning for their hometown, having made the move to London. A press release specifies that it “explores themes of relationships, homesickness, ambition and sacrifice”.

‘Madra’ was named one of NME’s Top 100 Albums of 2024 and received a four-star review, which stated: “There is a point a few songs into the London-via-Galway quartet’s debut album when their past and present meet, with the roiling emotions of young adulthood contained in Julie Dawson’s lyrics cutting through the glistening, propulsive sound the band have fashioned into a protective cocoon since the release of their promising-if-half-formed early EPs.”

Dawson also released her debut solo album ‘Bottom Of The Pool’ last year, which she told NME was “definitely more pop-leaning, but still with all those heavy guitar and bass sounds. There’s a lot more synth sounds going on too. There’s a lot more going on, but still with that classic NewDad sound.”

Olivia Rodrigo’s guitarist has revealed that the singer paid for her whole band and crew to have therapy on their last tour.

The ‘Guts World Tour’ accompanied Rodrigo’s second studio album ‘Guts’ and ran from February 2024 up until the final show in Manchester at the start of this month, a total of 102 shows across multiple continents.

Now, Rodrigo’s guitarist Daisy Spencer has revealed that professional therapy was on offer throughout the tour for all band and crew members that was “accessible and free”, as overseen by Rodrigo herself and her tour manager Marty Hom.

“I have never had anything like that,” Spencer told The Stage Left podcast. “And that reignited the importance of therapy to me because I had just kind of fallen off for so long.”

“And then suddenly I had this free resource of incredible therapists, and I utilised the crap out of that. I was going, you know, once a week, once every other week, whenever I could. And it was even during the off time, we also still had access to this resource.”

Describing Rodrigo as “the dreamiest boss of all time”, Spencer added: “So honestly, that was one of the coolest things that has ever happened on tour. It’s not very heard of. It was the coolest thing ever.”

Mental health charity Mind have reported research that shows people working in the music industry are “more prone to mental health problems than the general population”, with musicians being “up to three times more likely to suffer from depression”. Financial pressures, isolation, lifestyle, hectic schedules and addiction are often named as factors.

Recently, a 24-hour mental health support service was launched for people working in the music industry. The Music Industry Therapy Collective (MITC) set up the Online Tour Health And Welfare Coaching service, which is available now for touring professionals working in music, including artists, production staff, promoters, venues and agents.

It offers round-the-clock, expert-led coaching sessions intended to help to tackle depression, anxiety, stress, insomnia and burnout among individuals working in the high-intensity sphere of the live music business.

Rodrigo, meanwhile, had a huge Glastonbury, headlining the Pyramid Stage on Sunday night, as well as doing shots with Robert Smith and watching Pulp’s not-so-secret set.

In her set, she delivered an explosive performance that saw her channel her rock influences with pyro-infused renditions of ‘Vampire’ and ‘Obsessed’. One of the standout moments came as she introduced The Cure frontman Smith to the stage as a surprise guest, with the two performing ‘Friday I’m In Love’ and ‘Just Like Heaven’.

Matthew McConaughey has led the tributes to the victims of the devastating flash floods that have impacted his home state of Texas.

Since July 4, extreme flash flooding has affected central Texas, with 109 people confirmed to have died at the time of writing. Many of those killed were children attending an all-girl Christian summer camp for the Fourth of July holiday weekend.

Several months of rainfall fell in the space of a few hours after the Guadalupe River burst its banks, with experts describing it as one of the worst freak weather accidents of the last 100 years.

Among those to speak out on behalf of the victims is McConaughey, who was born and raised in Texas. Writing on X, he said: “At least 70 lives have been lost, many more are unaccounted for, and countless Texans are hurting – inside and out.”

“If you’re able, please lend a helping hand where and how you can,” he added. “It’s gonna be a long road ahead, but right now the shock, the pain, and the chaos need the steady hand of a neighbor.”

Blood Orange has announced details of a UK and European tour, set to kick off later this year. Check out the details below.

Shared today (July 8), they follow on from the artist and producer’s upcoming US tour dates, which will see him perform in San Francisco, Columbus, Boston, Las Vegas, Inglewood and more throughout September and mid-October.

Kicking off on October 29, the new shows begin with a stop at the Columbiahalle in Berlin, before continuing with a gig at the TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht on November 4. Between these dates will be festival appearances at Torino’s C2C Festival and Paris’ Pitchfork Festival on October 31 and November 3 respectively.

Three back-to-back London performances are planned for November 8, 9 and 10, taking place at the Alexandra Palace Theatre. For these, an intimate “in the round” stage production will take place, with Blood Orange performing in the centre of the venue. This, he says, will offer a unique, immersive experience for fans, along with a 360-degree view.

For the aforementioned US tour dates, Blood Orange will be supporting other artists with whom he has worked in the past. Shows in Columbus and Richmond will see him join Turnstile, whom he joined for their new album ‘Never Enough’.

For the rest of the US shows in September and October, he will be joining Lorde as part of her huge tour celebrating the release of ‘Virgin’. This comes as Blood Orange – whose real name is Dev Hynes – produced the songs on the Kiwi singer’s latest record. The show in Manchester on November 15 will be a support slot with Lorde too.

News of the new tour comes after Blood Orange was listed as one of the top artists on TikTok for 2024. This came as his song ‘Champagne Coast’ enjoyed a surge in popularity despite being released in 2011.

The song was listed as one of the top songs on the social media platform at the end of the year – making the cut alongside Djo‘s track ‘End Of Beginnings’, ‘Nasty’ by Tinashe, (which was at the centre of the “match my freak” trend) and Benson Boone‘s ‘Beautiful Things’.

Before then, he was listed alongside Clairo, King Krule, Bint Mbareh, Daniel Caesar, Earl Sweatshirt, Nicolás Jaar, Ramy Youssef, and Yasiin Bey as performers for Mustafa‘s London Edition of his Artists For Aid Benefit gig last summer.

Available on CD and vinyl, the releases are called ‘Oasis: Complete Studio Album Collection’, and include 1994 breakthrough album ‘Definitely Maybe’, 1995’s ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?’, 1997’s ‘Be Here Now’, 2000’s ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’, and 2002’s ‘Heathen Chemistry’.

Later releases like 2005’s ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ and 2008’s ‘Dig Out Your Soul’ are also included, as is the iconic B-sides album ‘The Masterplan’.

The CD version of the box set is available to pre-order now for £60, while the 180g vinyl variant is available for £250. Oasis’ tour will continue with the five aforementioned Manchester shows, which will take place at Heaton Park. Welcoming roughly 80,000 fans each night, the dates kick off on Friday July 11, and continue on July 12, 16, 19 and 20.

If they follows the same format as the Cardiff shows, doors are expected to open at 3pm, and Oasis will take to the stage at 8:15pm. Special guests are Cast and Richard Ashcroft, who will perform at 6pm and 7pm respectively, and the gig is expected to hit curfew at 10:30pm. After their five shows in Manchester, the Britpop icons will play seven nights at London’s Wembley Stadium, as well as huge gigs in Edinburgh and Dublin.

Later on the Oasis ‘Live ’25’ trek, the band will head to North America, South America, Australia, South Korea and Japan for the remainder of the 41 scheduled shows.

At their opening show last Friday, NME gave the historic night the full five stars and praised the comeback as “a supersonic reunion for a new generation”.

“After a ‘90s heyday and an often maligned post-millennium era, this is Oasis redesigned for the 21st Century,” the review read. “Playing before a pop-art-meets-psychedelia visual spectacular that never distracts but will look sick on a phone, they seem the quintessential stadium band playing the greatest hits of greatest hits.”

As for other Oasis news, restaurant chain Prezzo and supermarket Iceland have been getting involved in Oasis mania, making a nod to ‘Digsy’s Dinner’ by offering free lasagna to fans in their latest promotions. Lidl got involved too, launching a special Oasis jacket that it called the ‘Lidl By Lidl’ coat.

Justin Hawkins has announced he will embark on a one-man tour for his popular podcast, Justin Hawkins Rides Again.

The Darkness frontman has over 600,000 followers who listen to his podcast hosted on YouTube. Hawkins has previously toured the podcast in 2024, and most recently brought the podcast to District X at Donington Park’s Download Festival last June.

The podcast has seen Hawkins express his love for The Cure (despite Robert Smith’s apparent disapproval of the band) and reflect on the moment he may have unintentionally “soured” his relationship with Robbie Williams.

Now, Hawkins is slated to commence on a brand-new run of dates in 2026. From Swindon to Sunderland, Warrington to Wimborne, the musician will be visiting a number of towns and cities from January 2026 onwards.

He will also tour larger cities like Cardiff, Glasgow and Manchester, and will wrap up the tour with a show at London’s Cadogan Hall on February 7.

Most recently, The Darkness shared their eighth studio album ‘Dreams On Toast’ on May 28.

Arriving via Cooking Vinyl, it marks the band’s first full-length album since 2021’s ‘Motorheart‘, and were apparently inspired by “the life-changing music of the ages”, as per the frontman himself. “You know that thing when God’s breath tickles your soul and tells you to create? Yeah, makes me giggle too. But you can’t resist,” Hawkins said of the album.

“God might not be the power she once was, but say what you like about her, she knows damn well that what the world needs now, is rock sweet rock. And who are we, mere mortals of extraordinary ability, to argue with the divine?”

In the run-up to the album, The Darkness shared singles  ‘The Longest Kiss’, ‘Rock And Roll Party Cowboy’, ‘I Hate Myself’ and ‘Walking Through Fire‘.

Elsewhere, Justin Hawkins has said he felt “petrified” to perform at Taylor Hawkins’ memorial concert.
